The Lion and the Ass

Image
Author: Aesop One day, the animals respectfully moved aside for the Lion as he marched proudly down a forest aisle. As he passed, however, an Ass yelled something disparaging. A burst of rage hit the Lion. He continued walking quietly though after turning to look at the speaker. He wouldn't give the fool even a single claw stroke of respect. Moral Never take offense at a fool's remarks. Don't pay them any attention.

The Fox and the Lion

Image
Author: Aesop A young Fox, who had never seen a Lion previously, came to encounter one in the jungle. A single glance was enough to send the Fox scurrying for the nearest hiding spot. The Fox halted behind a tree the second time he spotted the Lion to stare at him before slinking away. But on the third occasion, the Fox fearlessly approached the Lion and said, "Hi, there, old top," without raising a hair. Moral: Contempt grows from familiarity.

The Ass in the Lion's Skin

Image
Author: Aesop An Ass discovered a lion's skin that had been discarded in the jungle by a hunter. He dressed up in it and kept himself busy by hiding in a thicket and charging out at passing animals.  When they spotted him, they all fled to their heels. The Ass was overjoyed to see the animals fleeing him, as if he were King Lion himself, and couldn't help but bray loudly and harshly.  A Fox who was running with the others, heard the voice and came to a halt. As he approached the Ass, he laughed and remarked, "If you had kept your mouth shut, you might have scared me, too. But you gave it away with that stupid bray." Moral: A fool's attire and demeanor may deceive, but his words will soon reveal who he truly is.

The Lion's Share

Image
Author: Aesop Once upon a time, Lion decided to go hunting, and he invited Fox, Jackal, and Wolf to join him. They eagerly agreed, excited for the adventure ahead. As they ventured deeper into the forest, their eyes sharpened, searching for prey. After a long pursuit, the group successfully caught a majestic Stag, bringing it down with their combined efforts. Now, they faced the challenge of dividing the spoils. Lion, with his authoritative presence, roared, "Quarter me this Stag!" The others skinned the Stag and divided the meat into four equal halves. Lion positioned himself dominantly in front of the carcass. He began distributing the portions, "The first quarter belongs to me as the King of Beasts. The second is mine as the arbiter. Another share is for my role in the chase." Wolf, Fox, and Jackal exchanged glances, sensing an unfolding injustice. When Lion mentioned the fourth quarter, he issued a daring challenge, "I would like to see which one o...

The Lion and the Mouse

Image
Author: Aesop Once upon a time in the vast jungle, the king of the animals, a mighty lion, was taking a nap under the warm sun. Little did he know, a mischievous mouse was scampering around nearby. Curiosity got the better of the tiny creature, and it couldn't resist climbing on the lion's massive mane. Its tiny paws irritated the lion's sensitive skin, forcing its eyes to pop wide.                 "What is this disturbance?" The lion roared, his eyes narrowing in anger.                 "Pardon, O King!" squeaked the mouse in terror. "I meant no harm. Please forgive                          my intrusion." The lion's anger grew, and he swiftly captured the mouse under his enormous paw. He extended his mouth wide, ready to swallow it.    ...

Lion, Tiger and Donkey- An Argument (Fable)

Image
Story The donkey and tiger had a dispute over the color of the grass, with the donkey insisting it was blue and the tiger saying it was green. They took the matter to the lion, the King of the Jungle, for arbitration. The donkey pleaded his case, and the lion declared that the grass was indeed blue and punished the tiger with five years of silence. The donkey was pleased and continued to repeat his belief that the grass is blue. The tiger accepted his punishment but asked the lion why he was being punished when he knew the grass was green. The lion explained that the punishment was for wasting time arguing with a donkey and bothering him with such a trivial matter. The moral of the story is not to waste time arguing with those who are stubborn and closed-minded, as it is a futile effort. It is better to maintain one's peace and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
